The Redkar gentlemen have run a small spice, dry fruit and wine company near the Hotel Mandovi in Panaji since licensed as “salt merchants” in 1915. They were kind – and patient enough – to spend a good amount of time with me yesterday as I peppered (ha ha) them with questions about local foods, spices, cuisine and so on. I’ll be going back to them for some good stuff to bring home.

so cool! me jealous! but yes, after all that peppering, gotta give back
yummy! however, based on my experience, be careful bringing Indian spices back into the USA, they usually confiscate stuff like that, esp in Denver
Thats good to know. I appreciate the advice….I dont need more trouble with customs. Such beautiful stuff – you just want to have it in the kitchen!
