I covered the monsoons currently taking place in the southwestern United States in detail last week. Still, they never fail to impress.

Last Saturday afternoon there was a fairly brief but intense downpour.  I was on “Hondo Mesa” about 10 miles north of Taos, New Mexico when it hit and it was there that I got this photograph of rainbow beauty.

Photograph a rainbow time, I thought.  I waited and for just a few minutes, this beauty came out clear as a bell.  What amazes me about this photo is that, I’ve taken about a dozen just like it over the past few years – some strikingly similair.  All during monsoon, all from Hondo Mesa.

It is just that time of year.

For the rest of the country, the heat is on again for the next week.  Be safe.
