Taos Mountain

A major winter storm is moving in on us from the southwest today. I took this picture of Taos Mountain at 1:35pm today as the storm came in.  Here is another shot of Taos Mountain that I have for sale: “Mountain Light – Taos

From the National Weather Service:

BOTTOM LINE:

 MAJOR WINTER STORM & HIGH IMPACT WINTER WEATHER EXPECTED

 HEAVY SNOW likely for much of northern and central New Mexico especially
late Saturday through Sunday night.

TIMING:

 Snow showers will continue through tonight, perhaps some Freezing Rain or
Sleet across the southeast plains. However, BIG TIME IMPACTS will come
Saturday Afternoon through Sunday/Sunday Night.

IMPACTS:

 WIDESPREAD HEAVY SNOW across much of northern and central NM — with
biggest amounts across the northern and western high terrain.

Of course, the kids and I are bundling up and heading back out into the storm just for fun.  Then its hot chocolate and beef stew and sitting by the heater.

Beautiful Jim, love the de saturated color effects, gives it a nice vintage appeal!

Noel, can you believe that I actually DE-saturated the colors? The blues were too much and I had to tone them down a bit.

At my age, thing don't shake — they jiggle in an unpleasant way

I've hiked Wheeler Peak….it was 35 years ago…but what an adventure it was. Took a day to get up camping in the rain on the way. . fishing in the natural lake up top. Awesome experience.

Jim O'Donnell ….hmmm, LOL..maybe that's why we didn't get fish….I went with a Laguna pueblo friend of mine…we had other food sources…I remember that…ha! But, yes, it was a fun trek….I am amazed I even did it….raining on us on teh way up in the tent….precariously placed on the side of the trail….but, youth is an open gate to "whatever"…:)
Could it have had fish in there in 1981?

Cynthia Sue McCann – Oh yeah…I forgot about Horseshoe. There are fish there? I'm going to give it a try. I plan to do Wheeler 4-5 times this summer. Just for the workout….got to get in shape for a big walk in January 2015……..
