If you're smart, you've made the choice to stay at home the past few weeks…
Travel Blogging Calendar 2014 – Less Skin, More Elephants!
I’m sure you remember.
Last year I joined in with a a bunch of other bloggers to bare it all for charity. It was a fun project with an excellent goal. But…well….my butt. My butt was the problem. Preciously few people were interested in seeing that white mass hanging out there in the cold mountain wind. And who can blame them really. While we were able to round up a couple hundred dollars in donations for the charity chosen this year we wanted to find a way to be more effective.
So we’re doing something different for 2014 – and its a much better idea – and YOU can win something cool – and you dont have to suffer my near-nakedness.
A clear win for all.
Travel Blogging Calendar 2014
While last year we sold an actual calendar this one is different. This is more of a digital calendar. We’re publishing a weekly on an exclusive blog that highlights different travel destinations, holidays and festivals from around the world. Each blog post will highlight something happening that week, in some country, somewhere in the world. Access to this blog is limited only to those who donate to the project. Those who donate get to experience a new amazing location every week.
Save the Elephant Foundation
This year we’re supporting the Save Elephant Foundation which runs the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand, a reserve for Asian elephants who have been rescued from the tourism industry.
Those who consciously practice responsible travel and tourism know that elephants forced into the tourism industry do not have a good life. More often than not their captors beat and torture them and the tourists are none the wiser. The Elephant Nature Park provides a healthy and happy home for elephants who have been rescued from the tourism trade.
Currently, the park is at full capacity and is unable to rescue any more elephants due to the limited space. The funds we raise from this project will go towards purchasing new land for the elephants, so that the park may again open to the adoption of elephants in need. As part of the calendar, we’re raffling off a holiday to Thailand! Flight Network has donated $2000 worth of flights, and Where Sidewalks End has donated an eight day, seven night tour of Thailand, including a visit to the Elephant Nature Park.
Everyone who donates will be entered into a raffle and the winnter will be chosen, at random in early March. Donations of $20 receive 10 entries and higher donations receive higher numbers of entries, incrementally. Once they’ve donated, they can earn more entries by sharing on social media through a Rafflecopter widget.
The flight voucher is good for $2000 dollars. The winner can spend less, or apply this to a higher priced ticket in which they cover the difference. The tour is for 8 days, 7 nights. This includes transport, hotels, city tours and a trip to the Elephant Nature Park. The tour has been provided by Where Sidewalks End. The total cost of this tour is $650 per person, with a maximum of two people, making the prize value $1300.
Get the 2014 Calendar here and get in that raffle! Thank you and good luck!
