Celebrity Spotting in Palma

Palma, the capital city of Mallorca, Spain, has long been a destination for the rich and famous. Since the early 1800s, celebs have flocked to Palma, and that includes such names as Chopin and George Sand. Times have changed Palma over the last couple of hundred years, with the city becoming one of the top holiday destinations in the Mediterranean, but one thing hasn’t changed. It’s still a place to see and be seen. Here’s who the Holiday Transfers team believe you might run into if you take a trip to Palma.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones

Though the two have split, they once shared a home in Palma that one or the other still hang onto. It’s called S’Estaca and lies between Valldemossa and Deia. Douglas bought the home when he was still married to his first wife, so chances are pretty good that he still spends time here.

Claudia Schiffer

Schiffer loves Palma, as many Germans do, and owns a luxury mansion in Camp de Mar. You might see her out and about, but don’t try to get close to her home because it’s usually surrounded by paparazzi. She arrives every year with her husband and children and you might run into her somewhere.

James Blunt

This musician loves Palma so much that he even got married there. Blunt’s in-laws own a home in Palma so he is able to visit anytime he wants to. Perhaps you want to follow in their footsteps and have your own wedding there.

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain

Is it any surprise that Spanish royalty would want to spend time in Palma? This couple and their children often go there and can be found at one of their two residences – Almudaina Palace or Marivent Palace. King Felipe loves yachting so you might see him out on the water.

Pierce Brosnan

Brosnan, a big name on the silver screen, loves Palma for its retreat from the movies. He often spends his downtime at his estate in the mountains with his family. His seclusion makes him hard to spot, but don’t be surprised if he’s there.

Joseph Fiennes

Fiennes owns two properties in the Palma area because he loves it so much. He spends most of the year with his wife, going between the two. He supports the independent theatre scene in Palma and can often be seen sunbathing on the beach.

While there is a multitude of celebs who own homes in Palma and the surrounding areas, there are plenty more that spend their time there. Following in the footsteps of Princess Diana, Grace Kelly, Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin, celebs still call Palma one of their favourite places. Don’t be surprised to see Gwyneth Paltrow, Jamie Oliver, Harrison Ford, Goldie Hawn, Kate Moss or Sting if you happen to be there. The big names might not be that easy to spot, but they enjoy boating, golfing, dining and shopping in the area, so if you keep your eyes open, especially in the summertime, you may just run into your favourite Hollywood name.
