Scary Picture. Kind Of. My Shot of the Day. July 20, 2012

Scary Picture

Monsoons again and again. I know.  Sorry but it is the best time of year in Northern New Mexico as far as I am concerned.

Here is a shot from just over the border in Southern Colorado’s San Luis Valley.  The perspective is looking southwest at the two great dormant volcanoes of the borderlands.  Ute Mountain on the right and San Antonio Mountain on the left.

You can see that I’m playing around alot with the images as I create.  The wind was a light 10mph (approximately) out of the north west at the time and the sky was darkening by the moment.  There was thunder somewhere but not particularly close.

The whole scene was one of foreboding – infectious if you weren’t careful with your mind.

Anyway, I tried to capture that foreboding by really pushing the camera to get the dark and making the mountains silhouettes with that “horrible” scary photo sky all around.  I think it came out well.  Haunting photo, no?

What do you think?
