Jim O’Donnell is available for the following services:


Jim is available for photography assignments with a focus on anthropology, adventure, conservation, expeditions, portraits and travel. Samples of his photography work are available here and here.

Writing and Reporting

As a skilled, veteran researcher and journalist with a lengthy and growing list of publications, Jim is available for a wide range of assignments.


O’Donnell will teach one-on-one photography courses on demand. He currently teaches a yearly nature and/or travel-writing course in Taos, New Mexico and is available to teach other courses on request.

Tours and Workshops

As an experienced outdoor guide with first-aid certification, Jim leads hiking, wildlife, archaeology, art history and photography tours throughout northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. Jim runs yearly photography workshops in Havana, Cuba (January 2021).


O’Donnell is physically and emotionally fit for partnership in knowledge-building expeditions. He has extensive experience in planning and executing long-term and challenging overland travels. He is on the lookout for meaningful partnerships and collaboration.


As an experienced and entertaining public speaker Jim is available to speak on a wide range of subjects for conferences and workshops.


On rare occasion Jim will do product reviews provided they align with his core values.
